The ending - you can't leave it like that! I was not too upset though as I know I will listen to the subsequent books. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? My only slight criticism is that the distinction between female characters is not always as good as it could be, which can be confusing if you are not listening closely. She has a very good grasp of the story, and her pacing and delivery are excellent. I have listened to her other performances in this series, and this one is just as good. Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances? How does this one compare? Crucially, it doesn't take itself too seriously. The story here has much more depth and range, and is better written with a much better sense of humour. They are similar in the way that they treat their target audience with a degree of intelligence that is sometimes lacking in this genre. Simply because of the ages of the main characters, Twilight or Hunger Games. What other book might you compare Torment to, and why? It is also nice to see the religious elements of the story given due respect, they are integral to the whole story and not just used for an easy plot twist.

Instead she changes the setting and expands the cast of characters. The fact that Lauren Kate is not afraid to change things up - it would have been the easy option to simply continue the story at Sword & Cross and rehash the first novel over and over to make up the series.

What made the experience of listening to Torment the most enjoyable?
